Cat Chow Revisited

I've been asked what is Cat Chow?
Well, truthfully it's Chex Muddy Buddies. . . I've used this recipe a lot over the years. I've made it as Puppy Chow and given it in a dog bowl for some one under the weather with a tag that said;
"Are you dog-gone tired of lying around and feeling like a tired ole hound? Want to feel better but don't know how? Have a bowl of Puppy Chow!"

For the Cat's Meow Pajama Party posted previously I made cat chow goodie bags for all the girls.

Cat Chow, Dog Chow, Puppy Chow, Muddy Buddies:

9 cups Chex® cereal (any variety)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Preparation Directions:

Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside. In 1-quart saucepan, heat chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter over low heat, stirring frequently, until melted. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. It doesn't have to be refrigerated if you eat it within a few days.
